My Life Has Been an Oasis

African American inmates in detention center or correctional facility. Depressed man in orange uniform sits on prison bed and looks at barred window. Prisoners serve imprisonment term in jail cell.

My life has been an oasis of fame and glory that although internalized, externally didn’t really exist. No matter how much I knew better something ingrained inside me convinced me to against the odds persist. Oh yeah it can all be at your fingertips, then just as fast evaporate like dew or a morning mist, You can make it all come right back in a Pyrex pot and the awkward flick of a hopeful wrist.

Not sure what benefit it is to trade your soul for a temporary, misconceived sense of stability, only to exhaust your options and end up in a mountainous correctional facility. Just another number there, no one cares about your potential or your marketing ability, So you get put on some form of psychiatric medication to chase a distorted form of tranquility.

Its amazing that the first time I was able to grind up the bread to help pay a family bill I thought I was the shit, I developed ants in my pants while at school so in a class room my little smart azz could not be still and sit. The determination for more and better things in life came from deep within my stomachs pit. Some may say I showed true ignorance; my perception was that for our advancement I learned how to show true grit.

No fancy foreign car I ever drove was ever worth those cold, long rides to a judicial court, The system lets you go only to enjoy chasing you all over again, it’s sort of like a sport. When I look back at the glory times, the memories I see are actually rather short, If I had a chance to review those decisions and life plans again, that mission I would be forced to abort.
